Long time no see...

...Indeed, Busy, busy lately but here we go again.
Talking about "long time no see", here are a few images of Culver City, where I lived for a few years while working at Sony Animation. These are part of our lunch break sketch routine, we did a lot of that and it certainly was a way to practice and to get to know the area better while paying attention to every detail.
The one with the red canvas in a place called 'Santa Maria Bbq' or something like that, one of our favorite places at the time seen here from another restaurant across the street. The 'fire house' of the city (in white), and finally (in red brown) a location I believe they recently reconverted into 'something', location that at some point in the 80's was used as a stage for some scenes of the original 'Tron' (the video game arcade I believe).
'Talk soon.

  11. Impeccable sense of light and dark! I've found myself concentrating on the design end of lighting for the last few illustrations I've been working on. They are the direct result of spending time with your book!

    Thanks again!

I mean, un largo, un corto, animación tradicional, digital..., un nuevo libro, you know

  17. These are amazing (as is everything on this blog). I just bought "Framed Ink". Haven't had a chance to sit down and read it yet, but it came with high recommendations from a few trusted cohorts.

Can I ask what your primary inking tools are? You have a distinct, chunky, look to your mark making that really appeals to me.

    Thanks,

    Pat

  18. -Gracias Susana.

-Monsieur Serrano! Always good to hear from you. I hope all is good in Angouleme, if that's where you are these days!

-Thanks for your visit and comment Pat, these drawings of Culver City buildings were made with 'Sharpies", one of the fundamental inventions of mankind, as i understand it...
